The Colombia Forests and Wetlands Activity helps transfer forest and natural resources management expertise from the United States Forest Service (USFS) to local government and community actors.

The U.S.-Asia Gas Partnership (AGP) is a public-private partnership between government and industry representatives to optimize the development of secure, reliable, and economic sources of natural gas across the Indo-Pacific.

Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (Asia EDGE) is a U.S. Government-wide initiative in support of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Vision to grow sustainable and secure energy markets throughout the Indo-Pacific region by helping governments expand energy access, promote energy diversification and trade, and strengthen energy security.  USAID’s Regional Development Mission for Asia (USAID/RDMA) leads USAID’s Asia EDGE efforts for Southeast Asia.

Angola’s current electrification rates are estimated at 43% in most cities and less than 10% in rural areas.  The Government of Angola has set a target of 9,900 megawatts (MW) of installed generation capacity and a 60% national electrification rate by 2025.  The USAID Southern Africa Energy Program (SAEP), a Power Africa initiative, is providing support to the national electricity distribution company, Empresa Nacional de Distribuição de Electricidade (ENDE) and the national electricity transmission company, Empresa Rede Nacional de Transporte de Electricidade (RNT) as they tackle these electrification challenges and build a stable, connected transmission network.

Conservation and Governance seeks to reduce deforestation in the Amazon and create environmentally sustainable, legal economic opportunities.

The Paramos and Forests Activity helps the Government of Colombia (GOC) meet its landscape-based climate change mitigation goals and strengthens local economic development. 

The Territories of Life Activity strengthens the capacity of indigenous organizations and traditional authorities in the Amazon Basin to govern their territories. 

The Amazon Indigenous Rights and Resources Activity (AIRR) encourages indigenous peoples’ participation in the sustainable economic development of the Amazon to preserve biodiversity and reduce CO2 emissions caused by forest loss.

To date, pledged funding from USAID includes $299 million in assistance from USAID’s Emergency Reserve Fund for Contagious Infectious-Disease Outbreaks (ERF-USAID), approximately $235 million in Global Health Programs (GHP-USAID) funds, $558 million in humanitarian assistance from USAID’s International Disaster Assistance (IDA) account, and $243 million from the Economic Support Fund (ESF).

The United States is leading the global response to COVID-19 with foreign assistance funding. The U.S. Government (USG) has allocated $20.5 billion for the development of vaccines and therapeutics, preparedness efforts, and other foreign assistance.
