The National Anti-Corruption System (NAS) which entered into force in 2017 establishes a space where citizens, local governments, and federal institutions can converge to defeat corruption.
USAID continues to improve the ability of the GOM to prevent, investigate, and prosecute human rights abuses, while strengthening civil society to hold the GOM accountable in this regard.
USAID is supporting attorney general offices and courts, among other institutions, to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of criminal and civil justice systems, including developing analytical ability, improving victims’ access to justice, and building public support for criminal justice reforms.
USAID is focused on preventing at-risk youth in the most violence-affected cities, especially on the border, from turning to crime and potentially joining organized criminal groups.
Under USAID/Mexico’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy, for Fiscal Years 2014-2018, USAID supports the GOM in making the constitutional criminal justice reforms implemented on June 18, 2016 operational and durable.
