USAID/Mali

Since 2011, drought and conflict have exacerbated food insecurity, malnutrition and other development needs, resulting in a countrywide humanitarian emergency. As of early 2014, the United Nations estimated that 3.3 million Malians countrywide remained in need of humanitarian assistance. In response to this and recurring crises, USAID is supporting programs that respond to immediate needs while building resilience among food-insecure populations, including the distribution of food aid and projects that treat and prevent acute malnutrition, restore livelihoods, and ensure regular access to safe drinking water.
