beginning new partnerships: USAID representatives and three grantees
USAID Agriculture for Growth and Rural Opportunities

On January 19, the USAID Agriculture for Growth and Rural Opportunities program signed three grants to help establish associations that will provide agricultural support services in Kosovo. These strategically-focused efforts will increase the number of seasonal jobs to 3,000 and create 500 new full-time positions.

The associations “Mjedra e Kosoves,” “Organika,” and “Pepeko” received a total of €168,000 for activities such as training of trainers, training of farmers, B2Bs, and participation in business fairs. The grants will empower these associations to: improve the coordination and the promotion of trade and strategic interests in the raspberry sector (Mjedra e Kosoves); contribute to the development of the NWFP (Non-Wood Forest Products) and MAP (Medicinal and Aromatic Plants) sectors through the promotion of organic certification of products (Organika); and provide active representation of its members in the fruits and vegetables processing industry in local and international markets (Pepeko).

USAID, through the Agriculture for Growth and Rural Opportunities program focuses on increasing agricultural productivity, marketability, and responsiveness to markets, which will enhance the sustainability and competiveness of targeted Kosovar agribusinesses in domestic and export markets.
