In December 2016, 16 Kosovo youth started internships in 16 USAID Advancing Kosovo Together (AKT) Prime partner municipalities. The internships followed a two-day training of 48 individuals organized by USAID AKT and Democracy Plus.
During the training, the students and recent graduates learned skills and techniques to improve their interviewing, communication, teamwork, and CV-writing. They also received orientation training on municipal offices and mandates. At the conclusion of the training, candidates were offered the opportunity to interview for two-month public sector internships. Candidates were then matched according to their skill profiles relative to the needs of nearby AKT partner municipalities, and a mandate to promote municipal minorities and/or women.
In all, around 40 interviews were conducted and 16 interns were selected based on their skill-sets, interviews, and their performance during the training.
