With the launch of the Open Procurement Transparency Portal in 2018, Kosovo became a regional leader in providing access to information on government expenditures. On July 10, USAID and civil society partner Levizja Fol celebrated the one-year anniversary of this landmark achievement to raise awareness around the need for continued transparency and accountability.
At the event, USAID/Kosovo Democracy and Governance Office Director Christina Davis commended the Public Procurement Regulatory Commission for providing unprecedented access to procurement data for 12,000 contracts. Davis also urged continued civic engagement, noting that by staying informed through the portal, citizens are now better equipped to “monitor government actions and decision-making for better services and more responsive governance.”
