All across Kosovo, citizens are beginning to call for change.  But making change happen in daily life is a challenge, especially for youth.  Over the last three months, USAID/Kosovo has been using a tri-fold approach of engaging youth in their future through the Kosovo: My Country, Our Journey campaign that focuses on youth and their important role in Kosovo’s future.

During the campaign, Kosovo change makers presented their personal stories of change through short videos and City Talks across Kosovo.  Youth in remote areas actively participated in painting colorful murals in their towns.  In addition, the campaign called upon youth to enter the Imagine Kosovo contest by submitting photos, paintings, and graphics of how they Imagine Kosovo in the future. Museum of Kosovo will exhibit the Imagine Kosovo submissions in September.

The mural painting events started in the town of Kamenica on International Youth Day, August 12, and continued throughout the week in different municipalities across the country.  During these events, artists engaged local youth in imagining Kosovo’s future through the design and creation of murals in public spaces.

Kosovo: My Country, Our Journey highlights the successes of Kosovo citizens who are working in areas where USAID is engaged; the changes they have influenced in their communities; and their commitment to creating a better future for Kosovo.  The campaign reaffirms the concept that change in Kosovo is possible, and that individuals are the change makers.
