The United States Agency for International Development Regional Development Mission for Asia (USAID/RDMA) launched the two-year, $1.9 million Sustainable Fish Asia (SUFIA) project to improve the management of marine biodiversity and fisheries resources in the Southeast Asia and Pacific regions.
The United States and Thailand launched the new Mekong Air Quality Explorer Tool to support Thailand’s efforts to address air pollution challenges. The new state-of-the-art, publicly available tool uses satellite and advanced computer models to provide more accurate forecasting of air pollution up to three days out.
Health has improved in most countries in Asia over the last several decades. However, public health threats such as the COVID-19 pandemic underscore critical remaining gaps in the insufficient and overstretched health systems, compromising their ability to respond effectively and rapidly.
The Global Health Supply Chain - Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) activity supports the Thai and Laotian Ministries of Health and malaria partners in the procurement, supply chain management, and monitoring and reporting of malaria commodities, such as long-lasting insecticide treated nets, artemisinin-based combination therapies, and malaria rapid diagnostic tests. Through this program, USAID enables Thailand and Laos to become more self-reliant in managing malaria commodities through domestic resources, and to achieve their goals of eliminating malaria by 2024 and 2030, respectively.
USAID, together with the Mplus Foundation, Buddhachinaraj Hospital, the Phitsanulok Provincial Health Office, the Office of Disease Prevention and Control Region 2, and the National Health Security Office District 2, celebrated the grand opening of the new Mplus Phitsanulok community health center.
