Over one year after an inaugural sustainable coconut roundtable was held in Malaysia, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and global cacao corporate, Barry Callebaut, reconvened coconut  buyers via webinar on June 30 to continue efforts to prevent a global coconut shortfall through a sustainable sourcing charter. Sustainable sourcing –  reducing the social and environmental fallout from coconut production – promises to increase climate-smart coconuts in an industry where demand far outstrips supply.

USAID and National Assembly of Vietnam Hold Second High-Level Dialogue to Strengthen Counter Wildlife Trafficking Efforts

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Office of the National Assembly of Vietnam convened top government leaders and relevant stakeholders today for a high-level dialogue with the theme “Strengthening legislation and communication to reduce demand for illegal wildlife products.” The event is the second in a series of three dialogues organized by the USAID Wildlife Asia project aimed at ending the illegal consumption of wildlife products in Vietnam.

Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (Asia EDGE) is a U.S. Government-wide initiative to grow sustainable and secure energy markets throughout the Indo-Pacific region, which spans the California coast to the western shores of India, by helping governments expand energy access, promote energy diversification and trade, and strengthen energy security.  USAID’s Regional Development Mission for Asia (RDMA) manages the USAID Southeast Asia EDGE Hub (the Hub) to coordinate and enhance the effectiveness of USAID’s energy programs across Southeast Asia.

This collaboration, the Advanced Energy Partnership for Asia, led by USAID and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), helps partner countries transform their energy sectors. This Partnership leverages U.S. expertise to provide rigorous, unbiased, third-party technical leadership to enhance the adoption of best practices and deploy advanced energy systems at speed and scale.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced today the five winners of the first WE4F Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy (EDGE) Agriculture-Energy Prize.
