The USAID Clean Power Asia Initiative works with Lower Mekong countries and other Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states to encourage power sector investments in environmentally-friendly, clean energy sources. The initiative specifically focuses on bringing greater quantities of renewable energy into the region’s electricity grids.
The U.S. Government inter-agency Smart Infrastructure for the Mekong (SIM) program, coordinated by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), provides Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI) partner countries with support to develop environmentally sound and socially equitable infrastructure, clean energy development, land and/or water resources use.
BANGKOK, Thailand – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Green Invest Asia project, in collaboration with sustainability consulting firm South Pole, has completed Rabo Foundation’s first portfolio-level carbon accounting analysis of its agricultural investments in Indonesia. A dairy cooperative contributed the most emissions and coffee businesses the least, proportionally, based on each business’s emission factor, revenue and the amount of the foundation’s investment.
HANOI, Vietnam – The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Wildlife Asia project continues its work to stop the consumption of rhino horn in Vietnam with the launch of a new video public service announcement (PSA) for the Chi III Initiative. The video reminds audiences that a person’s true strength comes from within, not from a status symbol such as rhino horn. The initiative gets its name from the concept of inner strength, “Chi” in Vietnamese.
