Daniel Moore was sworn in as Mission Director to USAID's West Africa Regional Mission in July 2018. He is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and has been working for USAID for over 25 years, including over 20 years of service in Africa.

In his capacity as Mission Director to USAID's West Africa Regional Mission, he oversees USAID’s programs that support regional integration and address trans-boundary issues across all fifteen countries that compose the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), as well as activities in countries where there is no USAID mission. Since West African countries often face the same problems, regional projects are designed to complement and enhance country-specific programs in agriculture, trade, energy, environment, health, peace and security, including countering violent extremism. 

Most recently, Mr. Moore served as Senior Advisor in USAID's Africa Bureau from May 2017 to July 2018, and as Mission Director of USAID/Mali from August 2016 to May 2017.  He was Acting Mission Director of USAID/Tanzania from August 2015 to June 2016, and before that was Deputy Mission Director from October 2011 to August 2015. 

Previous postings include USAID/Ethiopia from 2009-2011, where he was the Chief of the Economic Growth and Agriculture Office, USAID/Philippines (Energy, Environment and Water), 2004-2009; USAID/Tanzania (Natural Resource Management and Economic Growth), 2000-2004; Washington, D.C., (Environment Officer), 1999-2000; USAID/Uganda (Natural Resource Management), 1995-1999; and USAID/Cameroon (Agriculture), 1990-1994.

Prior to joining USAID, Mr. Moore worked as a Soil Scientist for the U.S. Forest Service out of Modoc National Forest in Northern California.  Mr. Moore also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer, teaching physics and math in North West Cameroon.

Mr. Moore hails from Palo Alto, California.  He holds a BSc in Environmental Science from Willamette University (Salem, Oregon) and an MSc in International Agricultural Development from the University of California at Davis.  He is also an avid student of Coleoptera (the study of beetles).  Mr. Moore is married to fellow Foreign Service Officer Antonina Espiritu and has two sons.
