The U.S. government, working in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Education, answered President Sisi’s recent call for a greater focus on science and technology education with a graduation ceremony on Sunday, August 20 for students from the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) high schools in Maadi and 6th October City.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MOETE) brought together in Luxor this week 600 Egyptian technical school teachers and administrators from 28 schools to highlight the Workforce Improvement and Skills Enhancement (WISE) project’s efforts to link Egyptian students with the workforce and private sector jobs.
Egyptian and U.S. government officials announced the successful completion of a project to improve efficiency and responsiveness of public services in Egypt. The Effective Planning and Services project was implemented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in coordination with Egypt’s Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Local Development, and the Central Agency for Organization and Administration.
Cairo - In a ceremony held July 18, senior U.S. Embassy and Government of Egypt officials welcomed back to Egypt 52 outstanding women scholars who recently completed Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs at premier universities in the United States. Selected from throughout Egypt, the women received scholarships for the two-year MBA program through the joint U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative (HEI).
"Today we congratulate the first MBA graduates of the U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative scholarship program," said USAID/Egypt Mission Director Sherry F. Carlin. "These graduates join the hundreds of USAID scholarship and program participants who are making a difference in Egypt. The Higher Education Initiative is a multi-year investment in Egypt's future, but the impact can last a lifetime."
Meeting in Cairo April 23-24, the Board of Directors of the U.S.-Egypt Science and Technology Joint Fund continued a long tradition of U.S.-Egypt cooperation on high-impact research between Egyptian and American scientists by approving 15 joint projects in the fields of agriculture, energy, health, and water. The board also agreed to continue to dedicate a portion of its funding toward innovation-related activities.
