As part of the commitment of the United States to work with the public and private sector to strengthen Egypt’s economy and provide job opportunities for youth, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is co-sponsoring a “Startup Weekend” in Minya, on October 26-28.  The “Minyathon” will bring together over 100 aspiring Egyptian entrepreneurs to participate in an entrepreneurship competition.

CAIRO – Egypt and the United States signed new bilateral assistance agreements and amendments this week worth over $100 million that support the Government of Egypt’s economic reforms, Sustainable Development Plan 2030, and private sector led growth and job creation.  These agreements demonstrate ongoing support from the American people for joint U.S.-Egypt priorities in water, health, education, agriculture, and trade.

Cairo –Chargé d’Affaires Thomas Goldberger of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and Minister of Antiquities Dr. Khaled El Enany celebrated on September 23 the completion of the Ancient Memphis Walking Circuit in Mit Rahina. The walking circuit connects eight archaeological sites in the center of Egypt’s first capital city of the Pharaonic period.

U.S. and Egyptian government officials inaugurated newly refurbished and modernized Citizen Service Centers in Abu Hummos, Kafr El Dawar, and Damanhour.  These one-stop shops for government services were upgraded through cooperation between the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Beheira Governorate, and the Ministry of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform.
