USAID Resilience & Economic Growth in the Sahel-Accelerated Growth Activity-Gender Integration Plan

Speeches Shim

This study was conducted as part of the value chain analysis for Resilience and Economic Growth in the Sahel – Accelerated Growth (REGIS-AG), a USAID activity focusing on vulnerable populations in three regions each of Niger and Burkina Faso. REGIS-AG is part of USAID’s Resilience in the Sahel Enhanced (RISE) project, with a focus to increase incomes and resilience of vulnerable populations in communities in three regions of Niger (Tillabéri-Sud, Maradi and Zinder) and three “départements” of Burkina Faso (Dori, Kaya, Bogandé). The objective of the study was to develop a gender integration plan for the project’s activities in three value chains, cowpeas, poultry and small ruminants. Alleviating gender-specific constraints and improving the well-being of women in these vulnerable communities is critical to the success of the REGIS-AG program and the RISE initiative.
