With youth development and citizen security being top priorities for the United States and Caribbean governments alike, efforts are underway to ensure that at-risk youth in St. Kitts and Nevis receive maximum benefits from the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Youth Empowerment Services (YES) Project.
As part of ongoing youth violence prevention efforts, the United States Government has partnered with St. Lucia’s Department of Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development to commence the introduction of robotics and computer coding into the secondary school curriculum in St. Lucia.
The United States Government, in collaboration with the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines, today launched a National Task Force aimed at improving citizen security data management, analysis, and monitoring for crime reduction.
At-risk youth in St. Vincent and the Grenadines are poised to benefit from improved services at the newly-renovated Liberty Lodge Boys Training Center.
Trinidad and Tobago will be among the first in the English speaking Caribbean to offer a comprehensive juvenile court system that integrates a child rights approach towards children in conflict with the law. Through the support of the United States Government, a new juvenile court system took effect with the formal opening of two children’s courts in the north (Port of Spain), and south (Fyzabad) of Trinidad on March 6 and 7.
