Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced a five-year, $10 million initiative to assist the people and Government of Thailand in their ongoing efforts to counter human trafficking. Implemented by Winrock International and partners, the USAID Thailand Counter Trafficking in Persons (USAID Thailand CTIP) project will examine the scope of trafficked labor, empower at-risk populations and help strengthen victim protection systems.

USAID’s MekongSkills2Work Leadership Summit brought together 60 educators, private sector representatives, government officials and other partners from the Lower Mekong region for two days to share experiences in implementing the USAID Connecting the Mekong through Education and Training  (USAID COMET) model. USAID COMET, a project in support of the Lower Mekong Initiative, aims to strengthen youth employment through innovative classroom instruction combined with increased exposure to the working world through internships and the use of technology.

The U.S. Agency for International Development’s Community Partnership project aims to assist community-based organizations in Thailand to provide high quality HIV prevention, treatment and care to key populations, including men who have sex with men, transgender people, sex workers and people who inject drugs. Supported by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), this three-year project is implemented by the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre (TRCARC) in partnership with three leading community-based organizations: the MPlus Foundation, the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand (RSAT) and Service Workers in Group Foundation (SWING).

USAID and Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre Partner to Reduce HIV Infection

Today, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), launched a three-year project with the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre to support 13 provinces with HIV prevention, treatment and care for key populations, including men who have sex with men, transgender women, people who inject drugs and sex workers.
