SERVIR supports developing countries in the use of earth observation information and geospatial technologies to address challenges in food security, water resources, weather and climate, land use, and natural disasters. A partnership of USAID, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and leading technical organizations, SERVIR develops innovative solutions to improve livelihoods and foster self-reliance in Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
The Regional Agricultural Development Program-North (RADP-North) is a sustainable agriculture development program in Jawzjan, Balkh, Samangan, Baghlan, Kunduz, and Badakhshan. The program aims to support U.S. and Afghan Governments’ economic development objectives. RADP-N improves the sustainability and profitability in wheat, high-value horticultural crops, and livestock value chains that provide food and economic security for rural Afghans in the targeted provinces.
The Regional Agricultural Development Program-East (RADP-East) promotes sustainable agriculture-led economic growth and contributes to the development of a vibrant and prosperous agriculture sector in Ghazni, Kabul, Kapisa, Laghman, Logar, Nangarhar, Parwan, and Wardak Provinces in eastern Afghanistan. The program fosters the expansion of sustainable agriculture-led economic growth to enhance development of a vibrant and prosperous agriculture sector.
Promoting Value Chains–West (VC–W) strengthens the capabilities of micro, small, and medium-sized private enterprises to effectively link Afghan farmers to domestic and international markets. The project improves the quality of production, marketing, and after-sales service of wheat, high-value crops, and livestock in Badghis, Farah, Herat, and Nimroz Provinces. VC–W also trains staff at the Provincial Directorates of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (P/DAIL) on sustainable value chain development and management.
The On-Farm Water Management Project (OFWMP) is an activity under the World Bank’s Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF), providing farmers with improved, reliable, and equitable distribution of irrigation water to increase agricultural productivity and farm incomes and improve food security.
