Kabul, Afghanistan – The United States government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), donated 100 state-of-the-art ventilators to assist Afghanistan in its fight against COVID-19. The ventilators will be distributed to hospitals in the provinces most affected by COVID-19. This donation delivers on President Donald Trump’s generous offer of these life-saving and critically needed supplies and supports Afghanistan’s urgent response to the pandemic.

USAID Conducts Civil Service Job Fair for Afghan Women

USAID’s Promote: Women in Government project conducted a civil service Jobs Fair to identify career opportunities for women in the government sector. The event brought together approximately 500 women who have all undergone a 12-month internship program focusing on multi-level intensive training for employment in the civil service to meet with more than 50 officials from 25 government ministries and independent agencies.

USAID Signs MoU with Ministry of Justice to Improve Access to Services for Afghan People

Afghan women have long been the target of violence and systemic injustice.  While Afghan women have taken dramatic strides forward, female participation and contribution to the justice sector is an area that has been drastically inadequate to address these social issues women face daily. A recent survey of the International Development Law Organization found that in 2013 Afghan women made up only eight percent of the country’s judges, six percent of prosecutors and less than one fifth of lawyers.

The event was organized by Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries with the support of USAID’s Afghanistan Trade and Revenue (ATAR) Project.
