Kabul, Afghanistan – The United States government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), donated 100 state-of-the-art ventilators to assist Afghanistan in its fight against COVID-19. The ventilators will be distributed to hospitals in the provinces most affected by COVID-19. This donation delivers on President Donald Trump’s generous offer of these life-saving and critically needed supplies and supports Afghanistan’s urgent response to the pandemic.

Third Annual Passage to Prosperity India-Afghanistan Trade Show Opens with USAID Support

U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan John R. Bass joined representatives of the Indian and Afghan governments and private sector in launching the third annual Passage to Prosperity: India-Afghanistan International Trade and Investment Show, September 24 – 26, 2019. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) sponsors the annual exhibition of premier Afghan products to stimulate India-Afghanistan trade and facilitate economic development in Afghanistan. The three-day event is open to businesspeople September 24 – 26 and the general public September 25 – 26.

USAID Launches Toolkit to Help Afghan Business Women

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) introduced a new toolkit for Afghan businesses, especially women-owned businesses, during a September 19, 2019 event in Kabul. An estimated 150 representatives from Afghanistan’s business development service providers and the private sector attended.

U.S. Announces Additional Humanitarian Assistance for Afghans

The United States announces an additional amount of nearly $125 million in humanitarian assistance to meet the needs of vulnerable Afghans inside Afghanistan, including internally displaced persons, conflict and flood-affected communities, and Afghan returnees. This brings the total U.S. funding in this fiscal year to the Afghan humanitarian response to nearly $190 million, including for Afghan refugees in the region.

Facilitating Trade Between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan

The United States continued support to enhance cross-border trade and strengthen economic ties between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan at the “Facilitating Trade, Promoting Economic Growth,” event in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from July 14th – July 17th. USAID is supporting private-sector led economic growth in Afghanistan by hosting a week-long workshop to promote trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

400 Afghan Women Ready For Afghan Civil Service
