Speeches Shim
Peter Malnak is the Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Africa. In his current role, Mr. Malnak’s duties include overseeing the Office of Sustainable Development and the Office of West African Affairs.
Most recently, he served as the Mission Director for the U.S. Agency for International Development Regional Mission in Bangkok, Thailand. Previous assignments during his career include: Mission Director in Nepal and Rwanda, Office Director of Middle East Affairs in Washington, D.C., USAID Principal Officer in South Sudan, Office Director for Democracy, Education and Health in Amman, Jordan, Democracy Office Director and Program Officer in the West Bank and Gaza, and Private Sector Officer in Cairo, Egypt. Mr. Malnak joined the Foreign Service in 1992, and is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service in the class of Career Minister.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, United States, Mr. Malnak received a B.A. degree from Indiana University, a M.B.A. degree from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a M.S. with distinction from the National Defense University’s National War College. He received multiple honor awards in recognition of his contributions to development in the countries he served.
