Deputy Assistant Administrator of Public Affairs

Jennifer Hazelton is the Deputy Assistant Administrator of Public Affairs at USAID, where she manages the agency’s strategic communications, external engagement, intergovernmental affairs, and social media efforts. She joined USAID in February 2020.

Ms. Hazelton brings with her more than 15 years experience in strategy, communications, policy formulation, media, and marketing experience from both the public and private sectors.

Prior to joining USAID, Ms. Hazelton served as the Senior Vice President of Communications and Marketing at the Export-Import Bank of the United States.

Before joining the Trump Administration, Ms. Hazelton served as Communications Director for the Trump-Pence campaign in Georgia. She also founded and managed her own media consulting company, helping clients in areas such as media strategy, crisis communications, and political communications.

She was also a multiple award-winning communications director on Capitol Hill for a member of the U.S. Congress and worked as an award-winning television journalist, producer, and manager at CNN and Fox News Channel.

Ms. Hazelton holds a Master’s Degree of Business Administration from Emory University and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the Honors Program at the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in political science.
