Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator and Acting Director Don Chisholm oversees DDI’s Center for Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance. Previously, he was the Deputy Director of Center of Excellence on Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance in USAID’s Bureau for Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance.
Mr. Chisholm has worked in international development since 2000 and has been with USAID since 2009. During his time with USAID, he has managed rule of law, human rights, crime prevention, civil society, and elections programs. Prior to joining USAID, he worked for USAID implementing partners in the rule of law field and for the State Department’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Bureau.
In addition, Mr. Chisholm served as a Peace Corps volunteer and a US Army JAG officer, where he was a lead appellate defense attorney on a death penalty case. He has lived and worked in several countries in Latin America, as well as in Kosovo and Afghanistan. He has undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Notre Dame.
