USAID’s One Health Workforce Project

“One Health” provides a coordinated approach to counter emerging infectious disease threats at the interface of animal, human, and environmental health, the primary source of national and global epidemics. USAID’s One Health Workforce project supports the training of undergraduate and graduate students in 20 universities through the Vietnam One Health University Network (VOHUN). As part of VOHUN, Hanoi Medical University’s Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health established an international Masters of Public Health degree in 2016, with a One Health focus, in collaboration with University of Minnesota and Tufts University. On September 19, USAID/Vietnam Deputy Mission Director Craig Hart addressed the third graduating class of 22 students from seven countries, and welcomed the fourth cohort of students as they begin the 12-month program.

So What?  Graduates from the Masters of Public Health/One Health program will strengthen the health workforce in Vietnam and other countries by providing technical expertise to better address serious infectious disease threats through inter-sectoral collaboration.
