USAID Supports the Revision of Vietnam’s Rehabilitation Doctor Training Program

On June 2, USAID’s Moving Without Limits project, the International Center (IC), and Hanoi Medical University (who provide the best rehabilitation doctor training in the country) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work together to upgrade the existing rehabilitation doctors and specialists training program, based on internationally-recognized, professional competency standards. The Ministry of Health will also be involved in the process through the Administration of Science Technology and Training, the Medical Services Administration, rehabilitation training universities, and rehabilitation service provision facilities. The revision to the rehabilitation training program will be carried out by: (i) Analyzing the capacity of current rehabilitation training programs and rehabilitation doctors; (ii) Developing professional competency standards for rehabilitation doctors and specialists; (iii) Renovating the training program based on these standards; (iv) and piloting the revised training program for rehabilitation doctors at Hanoi Medical University.

So What? Rehabilitation doctors play an important role in the  treatment process and they receive international-quality training, the caliber of rehabilitation services in Vietnam will be enhanced, which will lead to improved quality of life of people who seek these services.
