While the Government of Vietnam made great strides in 2019 by issuing a policy (Resolution No. 02/NQ-CP) to improve the business environment and enhance national competitiveness, they are still facing challenges in policy implementation. To address this, on July 17, the USAID Linkages for Small and Medium Enterprises project and the Central Institute for Economic Management held a conference on “Engaging Enterprises and Proposing Recommendations to Improve the Business Environment” to review the resolution’s implementation to date. More than 50 representatives from ministries, government agencies, provincial authorities, business associations, industry associations, and enterprises discussed the challenges enterprises and government agencies face and proposed recommendations to improve the implementation of Resolution No. 02/NQ-CP.

So What? By involving the private sector in assessing the implementation of Resolution 02/NQ-CP, the Government of Vietnam is able to understand the challenges in implementing sustainable regulatory and administrative procedure reforms, which will help promote private sector led growth and Vietnam’s Journey to Self-Reliance.
