Through our Improving Access, Curriculum and Teaching in Medical Education and Emerging Diseases (IMPACT-MED) Alliance, USAID is working with Vietnam to enhance the quality and effectiveness of medical education provided in institutions across the country and a part of this reform is developing strong university leadership. On July 1, IMPACT-MED launched a nine-month leadership course for 22 executives from 15 of the top medical schools across Vietnam. Experts from Harvard Medical School, the World Federation of Medical Education, the University of Hong Kong, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation will train participants to master leadership skills through practice and reflection.
So What? Vietnam’s education system is undertaking big reforms and in order to keep up with the expected level of improvement, talented leaders are required to facilitate the reform process.
