The USAID Improving Access, Curriculum and Teaching in Medical Education and Emerging Diseases (IMPACT-MED) Alliance works to revamp medical education curricula and teaching approaches in Vietnam to produce graduates able to address current and future health challenges. Vietnam’s Ministry of Health has recently recommended that the medical education reform model introduced in the original three IMPACT-MED partner universities be applied to Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Under this expanded arrangement, the Government of Vietnam will provide funding through the World Bank Health Professional Education and Training for Health System Reforms project and USAID IMPACT-MED will provide technical assistance and expertise to the two new partners. So what? Buy-in, expansion, and cost-share by the Government of Vietnam exemplifies the value of USAID IMPACT-MED  in making transformational and sustainable changes to Vietnam’s education and healthcare sectors.
