Remote communities in Vietnam have limited access to legal information. Government representatives also lack the capacity to effectively implement laws and policies in these areas. Accordingly, localities sometimes find it easier to apply existing community rules and traditions than to enforce national laws. This week, the USAID Governance for Inclusive Growth program and the Ministry of Justice collaborated to help standardize access to legal information in such communities so that application of community rules and traditions is in line with national laws. So what? Improved access to legal information will promote inclusion and ensure citizens’ rights to justice and equality.
