The U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) has started a global initiative to roll out the fixed-dose combination of tenofovir, lamivudine, and dolutegravir (TLD) - the first affordable, generic single-pill HIV treatment - in developing countries. To implement this initiative in Vietnam, on August 1-7, USAID’s Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management project worked with the Vietnam Administration of HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC) to develop a transition roadmap leading up to the arrival of the first PEPFAR-funded TLD in July 2019. The roadmap includes input by Vietnamese government representatives, USAID and other PEPFAR partners, WHO, the Global Fund, and clinical experts.

So What? Agreement among key stakeholders on short and long term steps is required for successful transition to TLD in Vietnam and will help the country achieve its goals for HIV treatment and epidemic control.
