The USAID Workforce Development Project aims to reduce unemployment in Djibouti by improving workforce readiness and competitiveness based on market needs. It seeks to stimulate and support a strong workforce development system, with public and private organizations working closely together to be better informed by and responsive to the real demands of a changing labor market.
The USAID LINKAGES project focuses on achieving the UNAIDS 90-90-90 cascade approach to identify the most-at-risk key and vulnerable populations in Djibouti Ville and 12 areas. A unique identifier code and a longitudinal support and tracking system are used to reach the key populations. By 2020, the LINKAGES project aims to: 1) enroll in care 90% of those tested positive; 2) 90% of them initiated on antiretroviral treatment (ART); and 3) 90% of them tested with low viral loads.
Support from USAID’s Office of Food for Peace (FFP) enabled the UN World Food Program (WFP) to provide food assistance to some of the most severely food-insecure people in Djibouti.
The USAID Djibouti Education Program supports the Government of Djibouti strategy of upgrading quality basic education through the improvement of children’s learning achievements in primary education. The USAID Civil Society Organizations Strengthening Program (CSOSP) main objective is to strengthen Djiboutian civil society organizations, foster accountable governance and improve service delivery, particularly in health and education. The program will also support civic-governmental collaboration both at the local and national level.
