May 20, 2014 - In line with the project’s goals and revised milestones, USAID/Timor-Leste’s All Children Reading project organized training on effective teaching, student engagement, teaching materials, and childhood development. A total of 40 teachers participated in the training—four from Dili and three from each district outside of Dili—which aimed to equip participants with innovative teaching skills to ultimately improve their students ability to learn to read at a faster pace. The training, in conjunction with the provision of teaching materials (visual aids such as stimulus pictures, flashcards, and books, which will be distributed to participating teachers and their respective schools) is expected to improve teachers’ skills and students’ ability to read.
