United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green attended the Munich Security Conference (MSC) from February 14-16, 2020. At MSC, the Administrator participated in a number of panel and roundtable discussions on topics that included improving how donors assist communities in fragile societies; recognizing corruption as a key enabler for terrorism and international crime; preventing violent extremism; protecting youth from radicalization and safeguarding children during armed conflict; stabilizing the Sahel; and harmonizing development and security policies.  

The Administrator emphasized that USAID remains committed to strong partnerships with the common goal of addressing the world's challenges of instability, corruption, conflict, disease, and violence, which are all potential threats to our national security. While at the conference, the Administrator conducted multiple bilateral meetings, including with the following leaders:

• Dr. Paul Stoffels, Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee and Chief Scientific Officer, Johnson and Johnson;
• Dr. Seth Berkely, Chief Executive Officer, GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance;
• The Honorable David Beasley, Executive Director, World Food Programme;
• General Stephen Townsend, Commander, U.S. Africa Command, U.S. Department of Defense;
• The Right Honourable Tony Blair;
• The Honorable Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Ph.D., Director-General, World Health Organization;
