USAID’s BIZ+ initiative signed a partnership with K-Hill Gaya Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd. in January to expand its poultry breeding facility in Batticaloa. Biz+ has been providing financial, technical and managerial assistance to more than 50 small scale local businesses across Sri Lanka since 2012. The Biz+ and K-Hill Gaya Lanka’s approximately $190,000 investment will construct a new poultry breeding facility, create new employment opportunities and establish a poultry out-grower program, providing farmers more than $1,000 in extra income. K-Hill Gaya Lanka, which raises and sells live poultry and free-range eggs, will build a new poultry breeding facility and install new incubators to incubate and sell chicks to smallholder local farmers.
