The curriculum development workshop in session

In April 2018, CORE Justice conducted a curriculum development workshop for senior Attorney General Department (AGD) leadership, representing both civil and criminal divisions,  including the Solicitor General and Senior Additional Solicitor General. This resulted from a key recommendation made in the AGD’s training needs assessment to help develop a comprehensive introductory training program for the new state counsels expected to join the Department this year. Another recommendation was to create a basic trial skills curriculum: the lack of trial skills and lack of knowledge (both laws and procedures) stood out in a survey of new recruits and experienced state counsels. For CORE Justice, supporting the strengthening of knowledge, skills and professionalism within justice sector actors feeds into its vision of promoting the rule of law by strengthening core institutions, processes and actors responsible for the administration of justice and the delivery of justice services.
