Mr Reed Aeschlimann, Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for Sri Lanka and Maldives handed the assistance supported under a USAID-supported initiative implemented by Global Communities and Wellassa Organization of Persons with Disabilities on October 23, 2019.

 

Mr. Reed Aeschlimann, Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for Sri Lanka and Maldives, ceremonially opened a community hall in Akkara 7, Maduruketiya GND in the Monaragala district on October 23, 2019.

Mr. Reed Aeschlimann, Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for Sri Lanka and Maldives, ceremonially opened a community hall in Akkara 7, Maduruketiya GND in the Monaragala district on October 23, 2019. The facility, repaired by Sinhala and Tamil residents and material supported under a USAID-supported initiative, will serve as a multipurpose venue for community activities and cultural events. This facility will benefit 250 local residents to improve inter-ethnic relations and their quality of life.

 

Mr. Reed Aeschlimann, Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for Sri Lanka and Maldives, handed over a renovated irrigation canal to the farming community of Wijeyapura, Moneragala on October 22, 2019.

Mr Aeschlimann also met with members of women’s organizations who received livelihood training and inspected their products. These interventions were supported by USAID under an initiative implemented by Global Communities and the Peragamana Guild.

Mr. Reed Aeschlimann, Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for Sri Lanka and Maldives, handed over a renovated irrigation canal to the farming community of Wijeyapura, Moneragala on October 22, 2019. The supply canal will help to irrigate 200 acres of rice paddy land and benefit more than 200 families. Mr Aeschlimann also met with members of women’s organizations who received livelihood training and inspected their products.
