U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green spoke today with United Kingdom Secretary of State for the Department of International Development (DFID) Priti Patel. The Administrator thanked the Secretary for the long and productive partnership between USAID and DFID. Administrator Green noted that he looks forward to expanding U.S.-UK development cooperation as both countries implement reforms to make their assistance programs more effective and efficient. They discussed strengthening cooperation in areas of shared interest, including responding to growing humanitarian needs around the world; reforming the United Nations (UN) humanitarian agencies; improving global health security and preparedness for global health emergencies; and preventing violent extremism.
