With travel much reduced these days, USAID/Armenia and Smithsonian Institution’s My Armenia project has moved its familiarization tours to the virtual world. On December 9, tourism enterprises, artisans and regional entrepreneurs from Armenia’s regions presented their products and services to more than 60 tour operators via an online “tour.” Nearly 20 tour operators have indicated they intend to include at least one of the experiences showcased on the “tour” in their offerings. By making tour operators aware of these unique experiences, rural enterprises in Armenia will reach broader audiences, with the goal of enticing visitors to rural communities, promote international and domestic tourism, and combat negative impacts of COVID-19 on the tourism industry.
