Ever thought about how difficult it can be for men to seek medical help at a general hospital or clinic? Being surrounded by crying babies and female patients and healthcare workers can discourage men from seeking care and opening up about their health issues. Well, in Lesotho, USAID health partner The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), supported by the U.S. Presidents’ Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), has found a way to help.
The United States Government, represented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), is soliciting quotations from vendors/contractors to provide IT supplies as described in this solicitation.
Meet Zodwa Mabiyela, a young lady from Tembisa, a township east of Johannesburg, who is full of love and positivity for her community. Life did not start easy for Zodwa, though. After losing her mother at a young age, she was brought up by her alcoholic and abusive father.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) together with the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) have circumcised 150,000 male Namibians since 2009. This milestone was celebrated in Windhoek on 20 June 2019.
I am very pleased and proud to join you for this important milestone event, which tells yet another Namibian success story. 150,000! This is the magic number we are celebrating today. We are celebrating 150,000 smart male Namibians who have volunteered to get the “smart cut.” Under the leadership and guidance of the Ministry of Health and Social Services, these boys and men received a safe Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC). Their action significantly contributed to the country’s fight against HIV. And yes, these smart boys and men deserve a round of applause.
