USAID Administrator Mark Green met with African Union Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat today in Addis Ababa to discuss partnering on economic growth, security, and sustainable development in Africa.
Administrator Green and Chairperson Faki reviewed achievements in programs that focus on youth empowerment and employment, gender equality, trade, health, and food security. The Administrator highlighted the United States' strong commitment to providing humanitarian assistance, including in regions of Africa where people face famine and food insecurity. Administrator Green and Chairperson Faki noted the importance of working together to build resilience to future shocks and crises. They also discussed strengthening cooperation to address crises, particularly in South Sudan, Somalia, the Lake Chad Basin, and other areas of conflict.
