For the past 30 years, USAID has been at the forefront combating HIV and AIDS around the world. USAID is the lead U.S. government agency for international development and humanitarian assistance, and is a key implementing partner under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, which is the largest and most diverse HIV and AIDS prevention, care, and treatment initiative in the world.
Representatives from the United States and Papua New Guinea governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding signaling the beginning of a new partnership to protect and preserve the PNG’s rich natural resources.

At the regional, national, and local levels, your leaders have identified clear priorities to strengthen the resilience of your communities, and we are here today to demonstrate our support for those priorities.
The United States government, in partnership with the Samoa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, today launched a training program that will help businesses in Samoa better prepare for natural disasters. The training is part of the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Ready project, which is strengthening the environmental and disaster resilience of Pacific Island Countries.
