With Nigeria’s rapidly growing school-age population, its education system seeks to keep pace. According to the federal Ministry of Education, as of July 2017, more than 10 million children do not attend formal schools, with an additional one million out of school because of conflict and the resulting displacement.

October 20, 2017

On October 20, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) marked the successful conclusion of the three year, $3 million Feed the Future Nigeria Agro-Inputs Activity.  The activity built the capacity of agro-inputs dealers to provide extension advisory services to farmers and to compensate for a shortfall of public extension agents in the Federal Capital Territory and seven target states. Interventions focused on the maize, sorghum, rice, and cassava value chains.

October 4, 2017

On October 4, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced an additional $17 million in development assistance to fulfill the goals outlined in its 2015 Development Objectives Assistance Agreement with the Government of Nigeria.  This brings the total of development assistance provided under this agreement to $719 million.

September 12, 2017

On September 12, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) successfully completed its five year activity aimed at boosting trade and investment in Nigeria. The USAID-funded Nigeria Expanded Trade and Transport (NEXTT) activity brought together private sector traders, processors, business service providers, and government entities to advance the trade facilitation goals of the Nigerian government.
