The following is attributable to Spokesperson Clayton M. McCleskey: United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green participated in the Munich Security Conference (MSC) February 16-18. At MSC, the Administrator participated in a number of panel and roundtable discussions on topics including improving how donors assist fragile societies; recognizing corruption as a key enabler for terrorism and international crime; preventing violent extremism; protecting youth from radicalization and children during armed conflict; stabilizing the Sahel; and harmonizing development and security policies.  

The Administrator emphasized that USAID remains committed to strong partnerships with the common goal of addressing the world's challenges of instability, corruption, conflict, disease, and violence, which are all potential threats to our national security. While at the conference, the Administrator conducted multiple bilateral meetings, including with the following leaders:

* Dr. Peter Salama, Deputy Director-General of Emergency Preparedness and Response, World Health Organization;

* His Excellency U Thaung Tun, Burmese National Security Advisor;

* Alon Ushpiz, Political Director for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State of Israel;
