The following is attributable to Acting Spokesperson Tom Babington:

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green visited Panamá City, Panamá on May 15. The Administrator met with the Foundation for the Refugee Education Trust (RET), a USAID partner that is helping to strengthen the resilience of schools in Panamá by working with national and local education ministries to institutionalize and improve cooperation to prepare for natural disasters.

In addition, RET works with Panamanian communities to improve the participation of children with disabilities in disaster-preparedness activities in their schools and neighborhoods.

USAID funds activities throughout Latin America and the Caribbean to help communities prepare for, respond to, and mitigate the impact of hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and other calamities.
