Administrator Mark Green and The Honorable Iván Duque, President Of The Republic Of Colombia

Administrator Green will travel to Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Lucia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Panamá May 9-15, 2019.

On this trip, the Administrator will discuss challenges and opportunities with regional leaders and visit sites where USAID is helping countries advance along the Journey to Self-Reliance.

On May 9, Administrator Green will begin his visit to the Caribbean in Trinidad and Tobago, where he will meet with government officials and visit sites currently and previously funded by USAID. The Administrator will also meet with Venezuelans displaced by the man-made, regime-driven crisis in their country.

Administrator Green will travel to Saint Lucia on May 11 to meet with government officials and USAID partners to discuss regional challenges, including hurricane preparedness and Zika.

On May 12, the Administrator will travel to Colombia to attend the Concordia Americas Summit and sign USAID's new commitment to the United States-Colombia bilateral relationship.

From Colombia, Administrator Green will travel to Ecuador on May 14 to discuss the renewal of cooperation between USAID and the Government of Ecuador. He will also meet with civil-society representatives, tour the Pacari chocolate factory launched with USAID financing, and meet with displaced Venezuelans at a U.S.-supported shelter. The Administrator will wrap up his trip in Panamá, where he will discuss disaster resilience with USAID partners.

USAID's Acting Assistant Administrator for Latin America and the Caribbean Steve Olive and Acting Assistant Administrator for Legislative and Public Affairs Eddy Acevedo will accompany the Administrator.

Venezuela Regional Crisis Response.

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green visited Panamá City, Panamá on May 15. The Administrator met with the Foundation for the Refugee Education Trust (RET), a USAID partner that is helping to strengthen the resilience of schools in Panamá by working with national and local education ministries to institutionalize and improve cooperation to prepare for natural disasters.

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green visited Quito, Ecuador May 14-15, 2019.  The Administrator met with Vice President of the Republic of Ecuador Otto Sonnenholzner to discuss the renewal of cooperation between USAID and the Ecuadorian public, private sector, and civil-society institutions, as well as key challenges that are facing the region, including the dire situation in Venezuela and its impact on neighboring countries.

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Honorable José Valencia, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of the Republic of Ecuador. The MOU signifies the establishment of a new chapter of cooperation between USAID and the Government of Ecuador.
