U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green today announced that the United States is providing more than $6 million in additional humanitarian assistance to support Colombia's efforts to respond to an influx of people who are fleeing the man-made crisis in Venezuela. With this new funding, U.S. humanitarian and development assistance for displaced Venezuelans now totals nearly $56 million, since Fiscal Year 2017.

This additional assistance builds on the U.S. Government's ongoing efforts to provide food, health, water, and other critical humanitarian aid in Colombia and throughout the region. With this new funding, USAID is supporting:

• emergency food assistance to people who have fled Venezuela and vulnerable populations in Colombian host communities;
• critical health assistance for Colombian health facilities to deliver primary health care and first aid, the deployment of mobile health units to offer medical and psychological care, and the distribution of nutritional supplements to children and pregnant women; and
• information management services to help the international humanitarian community better coordinate the delivery of emergency assistance to those who need it most.

Administrator Green announced this additional assistance while in the Colombian border city of Cúcuta, where he met with arrivals from Venezuela, visited U.S.-funded food-distribution and vaccination points, and reiterated the United States' commitment to supporting our neighbors' response efforts to this humanitarian crisis.

The U.S. Government will continue to work with our partners in the region to address the growing needs of communities affected by this crisis. We commend the humanitarian support from governments in the region and other donors, and encourage additional contributions to assist those who are escaping repression and chaos in Venezuela.
