USAID Administrator Mark Green, US Ambassador in Peru Krishna Urs, Prime Minister César Villanueva, Minister of Economy & Finance (MEF) David Tuesta, and the Executive Director of the National Commission for Drug-free Development and Life (DEVIDA) Carmen Masías, celebrated a “New Era of Partnership” between the United States and Peru in countering narco-trafficking. The celebration marked by the start of two new USAID public-private partnerships, one to support the coffee sector and a second to increase digital and financial inclusion in alternative development areas; as well as the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between DEVIDA, the MEF, and the U.S. Government to increase Peruvian investment and improve basic government services in former coca-growing areas.
