July 3, 2019 – U.S. Ambassador to Mozambique Dennis W. Hearne met today at the U.S. Embassy with Levin Born and Samuel Levy, the co-founders of the newly formed American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Mozambique.  Also present was the U.S. Commercial Counselor to Mozambique, Tamarind Murrietta.

The United States Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization in the world.  The founding members of the Mozambique chapter include Anadarko; DDB Mozambique; Delta; EleQtra; Ernst & Young; General Electric; Globalstar; Mozambique Investments; Nathan & Associates; PricewaterhouseCoopers; Radisson; Regent Square Group; Sal & Caldeira; and ThirdWay Africa.  AmCham Mozambique will encourage the development of investment and trade between Mozambique and the United States, and will work closely with the US Commercial Service to meet the mutual goal of supporting US business and investment.

At the meeting, Ambassador Hearne said “The new AmCham Mozambique will be a crucial partner of the U.S. Embassy.  The AmCham will be essential in assisting U.S. companies interested in entering the market and supporting the needs of American companies already operating here.”

The U.S. Commercial Service (CS), part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, offers companies a range of services and expertise to American companies exploring investment opportunities abroad.  The CS Maputo office opened in 2015 and has worked with approximately 500 American companies seeking assistance in Mozambique.
