Project description

MCHIP provides assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic in order to build capacity for M&E analysis by introducing the Reaching Every District approach (RED) into national, oblast and district systems; improve evidence-based program planning and prioritization; and improve partner coordination on immunization.

Activities bring together government, non-government, and UN agency partners to the Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee for polio and working groups to utilize data for policy and program strengthening, and facilitate cross-border collaboration, planning and information sharing in the region.

Key Achievements

MCHIP mobilized community members to maintain optimal immunization coverage at district and community levels in Kyrgyzstan. The MCHIP Working Initiative Group included social workers from family group practitioners, feldshers, nurses, members of village health committee, Peace Corps volunteers, and was established to have continuing discussions with community members on immunization needs and gaps.

MCHIP focused on field assessment within their audience to define the operational problems, as well as any other community or social barriers.  Community members presented ways to combine resources to reverse, or at least reduce the problems revealed in the assessment.

Computerized information systems on immunization have been established in Bishkek FMC and Chui district rayon to optimize
registration process for immunization services, automation of the data gathering process, and the easy preparation and transfer of reports to the next level to strengthen routine immunization for vaccine preventable diseases in the country.
