On July 19, 2019, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green met with His Excellency Carlos Vecchio, Venezuelan Ambassador to the United States, and Venezuelan human rights activist Lilian Tintori.  The Administrator reiterated the U.S. Government's support for the people of Venezuela, the Venezuelan National Assembly, and the Government of Interim President Guaidó as they seek a return to democracy and prosperity. He also discussed the urgent humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. Administrator Green commended Ms. Tintori for her important work with the non-governmental organization Rescate Venezuela to provide critically-needed food, medicine, and hygiene supplies to communities in 24 Venezuelan states. 

The United States continues to provide robust support for response efforts throughout the region as the growing impacts of Venezuela's crisis spill into neighboring countries.  Since Fiscal Year 2017, the U.S. has provided more than $256 million to support response efforts in neighboring countries and to build long-term capacity to host Venezuelans who have fled the chaos and desperation caused by the illegitimate Maduro regime.  We will continue to support civil society, human rights, and independent media to help bring freedom back to Venezuela.
