From September 14 to 19, 2020 over 500 media specialists from countries across Central Asia are participating in the second annual Central Asian Media Festival (MediaCAMP Fest) hosted by the USAID-funded Central Asia Media Program. The online media festival includes trainings, lectures, film screenings, facilitation sessions, discussions, and talk shows.
Today, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Partnership for Innovations project, implemented by ARGO Civil Society Development Association, launched the 11th annual International Insights into Development Conference that will continue from September 7-14, 2020.
Last year, 25-year-old Zhaniya Aldekeyeva, completed a doctoral degree in medicine. Not one to stop there, she then enrolled at Nazarbayev University to pursue a master’s in public health. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she hasn’t started classes yet. But there was work to do so she connected with her fellow Red Crescent of Kazakhstan volunteers to help prevent the virus’ spread.
Today, the Kazakhstan Judicial Program, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and implemented by ABA ROLI, in cooperation with the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, organized an online roundtable discussion on criminal proceedings, including criminal cases involving extremism and terrorism.
Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. To mark this important day, USAID’s Safe Migration in Central Asia, implemented by Winrock International, is launching a social media campaign to raise awareness about human trafficking in Kazakhstan.
